About Dunn Law
Barry Dunn founded Dunn Law to offer clients the experience, dedication, and knowledge needed to meet their legal needs in a cost-effective manner. Barry began his legal career at one of Kentucky’s largest law firms where he practiced in the business litigation, tort, trial, and insurance, and utility regulation groups. While there, Barry tried several bench and jury trials, successfully represented clients before state and federal appellate courts, and represented utility companies before the Public Service Commission.
Barry was appointed the General Counsel of the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet in 2015 by Kentucky’s Governor. In that position, Barry led a staff of approximately thirty lawyers who oversaw the state’s regulation of insurance, banking, construction, alcoholic beverages, horse racing, charitable gaming, boxing and wrestling, and professional licensing. Barry regularly worked with and advised officials throughout state government, including members and staff of the Kentucky General Assembly, where Barry testified numerous times. Barry also served as lead counsel to the Governor and numerous cabinet and department heads in complex litigation matters.
In 2018, Barry was appointed special counsel for the Kentucky Department of Education. In that capacity, Barry served as the state’s lead counsel in its effort to take over Kentucky’s largest school district.
Now with Dunn Law, Barry’s primary areas of practice include litigation at all levels of state and federal court, regulatory matters before local and state government agencies, outside general counsel services to small businesses, employment law matters, and healthcare-related legal advice.
Barry and his wife, Leslie, have three children who keep them busy through sports and all the other things that kids do, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
